About Me
Kris Watson - Calm Mind Counselling
I’m a Psychotherapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I’m passionate about supporting people to create meaningful and lasting change in their lives. My aim is to offer a calm, nurturing and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel understood, and explore new ways of thinking and responding.
I became drawn to this work after experiencing the benefits of therapy myself. That experience showed me how powerful it can be to feel heard, supported and gently encouraged to move forward when life feels overwhelming or uncertain. It led me to retrain, change career and follow a path that feels deeply fulfilling.
As a parent, I also understand how life’s pressures and transitions can shape our emotional wellbeing, and I bring this lived experience into the compassion and balance I offer in the therapy room.
I work with adults aged 16 and over.
My Background
Before becoming a therapist, I spent many years working in financial services. During that time, I witnessed first-hand how stress, pressure, perfectionism and burnout can quietly affect wellbeing.
This insight shaped the way I now work. I understand how easily everyday demands can build up, and how important it is to have space to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself.
Retraining as a therapist allowed me to follow a more meaningful path and bring a grounded, real-world understanding to the sessions I offer today, along with empathy and a genuine appreciation of the challenges many people face in both their personal and professional lives.
My Qualifications
Core Training
Counselling Skills Foundation (SCQF level 5)
COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills (SCQF level 8)
Postgraduate Diploma in CBT and Groupwork (SCQF Level 11)
Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) – Member No. 415707
Additional CPD and Training
