Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Tailored to you and your needs
CBT as a talking therapy is an effective, empowering and a well evidenced approach that helps a person to understand the influence that their thoughts have on their feeling and actions.
It works on identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and works towards a more balanced ways to approach whatever you have been finding a challenge, by helping you develop more effective coping skills, breaking unhelpful cycles and providing you with a range of tools that can be used well beyond your therapy sessions to support ongoing self-resilience and strength.
Areas We Can Work On Together
I work with adults experiencing a variety of emotional and psychological challenges, and I tailor our work to your individual needs. While CBT forms the core of my practice, I also draw on Person-Centred Therapy as well as practical tools such as mindfulness and grounding techniques. This allows our sessions to remain flexible, supportive, and responsive to what you need in the moment. Here are some of the areas I commonly support clients with:
Anxiety & Excessive Worry
Support to understand anxious thoughts, ease physical symptoms and build calmer, more balanced ways of coping.
Health Anxiety
Space to explore health-related fears with compassion and develop tools to reduce checking, worry and reassurance seeking.
Social Anxiety
Practical strategies to build confidence, challenge unhelpful beliefs and feel more comfortable in social situations.
Depression & Low Mood
Help to make sense of low mood, increase motivation, and reconnect with activities and routines that support wellbeing.
Low Self-Esteem & Self-Worth
Work on reframing unhelpful beliefs about yourself and developing a stronger, more compassionate inner voice.
OCD & Intrusive Thoughts
A safe, structured approach to understanding intrusive thoughts and reducing the urge to engage in compulsions.
Trauma & PTSD
Gentle, trauma-informed support to process past experiences safely, stabilise symptoms and rebuild resilience.
Relationship & Interpersonal Difficulties
Explore patterns in relationships, improve communication and build healthier connections with others.
My Approach to Counselling
I believe therapy should feel collaborative, steady and centred around what matters most to you. My approach is warm and relational, offering space to explore your experiences with compassion and curiosity.

You’ll never be rushed – we work at a pace that feels comfortable, building confidence and insight along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What will the first session involve?
Initial sessions are all about understanding your story and what led to you reaching out for support. We’ll gently explore your goals and what you hope to achieve from therapy. we will ensure that you are comfortable with the contract we work to which is an important element of the relationship and sets good foundations for effective outcomes. The aim is that you leave your first session truly listened to.
Will my therapy be confidential ?
Confidentiality is a key part of our work together and I am bound by the BACP code of ethics which can be explored in full here. There are a few exception where I may need to work outside of our agreement to seek the support of others – e.g. where I am concerned for the safety of you or another person, but I would endeavour to speak to you about this and find the most appropriate way to do this.
How long will therapy last?
We will work collaboratively and regularly check in to see where we are in your journey. We will work with your needs and preferences at all times. I will invite your views and direction at every session, so you feel like you are feel empowered in the content of your therapy sessions with me.
What happens if I miss a session?
This is covered in more detail in your contracting in session one, but I understand that life situations happen and you may on occasion need to cancel your session with me. I ask that you try to give me 24 hours’ notice where possible. If this isn’t possible, I will try to work around your circumstances where possible but I may still require payment if you can’t be accommodated. Regular and consistent therapy is key to the most effective progress.
What can I do if I need urgent mental health support?
If you have declared or implied a clear and definite intention to end your life, or if I have reason to believe this to be true, we may after a careful discussion agree to put in place a ’keep safe policy’ where you will agree to take certain measures, such as get in touch with your mental health crisis team, your GP or family member.
If you are seeking urgent mental health support out with our sessions, please contact NHS direct telephone 111, your GP, the emergency services on 999 or the Samaritans freephone 116123.
